March Madness...no, I'm not referring to basketball in this post, but rather the crazy month we've had. For the whole month of March, we have had no plumbing. Yes, that's right...NO PLUMBING! Luckily, we have running water, just no drainage. It started with a leak in the basement whenever we did a load of laundry, then one day, it just started to back up on us. (I will spare you all the gross details.) Three different roto rooter guys come out to clean our drains and try and fix it, but none of them was able to do the job. Greg even put in new pipes, but that still didn't fix it. Fed up with all the incompetent plumbers who were just taking our money, Greg decided to take matters into his own hands and get the job done once and for all. He rented a backhoe and dug up the side of our house to put new pipe lines to run to the main sewer.
Unfortunately, the backhoe broke down on us. So for the past two weeks, we've had a great big trench on the side of our house just waiting to get filled. I told Greg if we continue digging around the whole house we could build a moat to complete our castle. Wouldn't that be a sight to see?
Anyway, it has been quite the experience living without indoor plumbing. It's made us appreciate it all the more. I can't say it's been all fun "roughing it," but it's something we won't ever take granted.
Fortunately, there is someone from church who has a backhoe and is willing to lend it to us free of charge. We hope to put all these plumbing issues behind us this week, so that everything returns back to normal, and we can take showers that last more than three minutes, as well as do a load of laundry in our new water efficient LG washing machine.

Can't wait!!!
