Spring Celebrations

Spring may have officially started in March, but the snow and below zero temps in Alberta still made it feel a lot like winter .  So, what's the best way to cure spring fever??
You guessed it...
GET OUTTA TOWN!!!
The kiddos all packed and ready to go!!!!
At the beginning of April, we once again took that long journey south from The Great White North to visit my parents in the desert heat in sunny Las Vegas, NV!

WORKS OF ART
One of the funnest things  I got to do on this trip was paint with two of my best friends.
Design and Wine is a studio in Las Vegas that leads you through a step-by-step process of recreating one of their featured artworks. No experience necessary!  It was about a 3-hour class, and they provided the canvas, paint, brushes, and even had a menu to order gourmet food and wine from.  (We opted for just some appetizers and of course...dessert!)

Definitely going to do it again!!!  So much fun!!! Thanks ladies! ;)

LOVE
I absolutely looooove the Beatles and have forever wanted to see the Cirque du Soleil show at the Mirage.  My lovely sister, Veronica, came to visit us from Cali & got us tickets to see the show.  She's soooooo awesome.  She's the best!  Thanks, Vero!!!

All You Need is LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Plus...
Had my first paid gig shooting my mom's co-worker and daughter!  They're so cute!

FRIENDS AND FAMILY
It's always a pleasure seeing my very best friend whom I've known for over 30 years!
Gina came to see us for a few days while we were there and we had a blast!
The kids absolutely adore her!
Charly has been "making strange" when other people hold her, but not with Gina!
 She didn't cry...at all!
They must be kindred spirits!!
All smiles.
Nothin but love....
She came bearing gifts, too!  Porto's...enough said!!!
At Jean-Phillippe Patisserie about to dig into some more treats...
My very first macaron...
OMG...to die for!!!
(SIDE NOTE:  I must've gained 20 pounds with all the sweets I've had on this trip.  But...it was all worth it!)
Love this girl!
We stayed a couple of nights at The Orleans and brought the kiddies to the pool to enjoy the sun.  We probably enjoyed it a little too much...sunburns are no fun!!

Thanks for a fun time, Gina!! Come back and see us again!

Charly and I got to visit with Luda and her little angel, Victoria.  Luda & I were pregnant together and Charly and Victoria are about a month apart.  Our bebes are just so adorable!! They played so nicely together.  Luda is such a good mommy...she's got her girl using the potty already...at 8 months old...what the???  I have a 4-year-old that needs to come to her house for training.  LOL!
Our beauties
Cutie-patooties!!

Our trip lasted about 3 weeks and had so many great memories.
One of them was being able to be there for my nephew's First Communion.
I'm honoured to have been there and taken this sweet boy's photos on his special day.
God bless you, Nick.

It was great being able to see family member whom I hadn't seen in years.  Definitely fun catching up.

ANNIVERSARY
This guy and I celebrated our 7 year anniversary on my birthday this year.  It's been quite a ride, babe!  Thanks for taking me along on your journey.  Remember...you're stuck with me for time & all eternity.  You better enjoy it! ;)  I LOVE YOU!!!

A Blink of an Eye

Life really has a way of passing by so quickly.  It's especially true when I look at my children.

I think back to when TJ was just a baby and can't believe he is now an adult.
Those 18 years went by in a blink of an eye, that's for sure.

Now, my baby is about to have a baby of his own!

That's right...TJ & his fiancĂ©, Brooke, are expecting a baby girl this May.
When he first told me the news, all I could say was "WOW! WOW!  WOOOOOOOW!!!" I couldn't believe it!  How could this be happening?(Of course I know how...)  I'm just too young to be a "Grandma!" I mean, I just had a baby less than a year ago, and now I'm expecting a grandchild??  That's just WILD!!

The more I think about it though, the more excited I am for them and the next chapter of their lives together.  I truly am grateful that TJ found someone to love & care for in Brooke.  I haven't met her in person yet, but have chatted & Facetimed with her a few times.  She's very sweet and seeing them together makes me very happy.  That's what really matters in the "big picture," doesn't it?  Seeing your children happy.

Our Heavenly Father has a plan for us...a Plan of Happiness.  Life may not always go the way we want it to, but we need to put our trust in Him and know that, like us, He wants his children to be happy.  I am thankful for that knowledge.  I am thankful that I am a child of God.  I am thankful for my life and my family and my children.  I am thankful for that little girl who is waiting to be born.  I cannot wait to meet you...Nevaeh Jasona Burkhart.
