Monkeying Around with Our MVP

March Madness

March Madness...no, I'm not referring to basketball in this post, but rather the crazy month we've had. For the whole month of March, we have had no plumbing. Yes, that's right...NO PLUMBING! Luckily, we have running water, just no drainage. It started with a leak in the basement whenever we did a load of laundry, then one day, it just started to back up on us. (I will spare you all the gross details.) Three different roto rooter guys come out to clean our drains and try and fix it, but none of them was able to do the job. Greg even put in new pipes, but that still didn't fix it. Fed up with all the incompetent plumbers who were just taking our money, Greg decided to take matters into his own hands and get the job done once and for all. He rented a backhoe and dug up the side of our house to put new pipe lines to run to the main sewer.

Unfortunately, the backhoe broke down on us. So for the past two weeks, we've had a great big trench on the side of our house just waiting to get filled. I told Greg if we continue digging around the whole house we could build a moat to complete our castle. Wouldn't that be a sight to see?
Anyway, it has been quite the experience living without indoor plumbing. It's made us appreciate it all the more. I can't say it's been all fun "roughing it," but it's something we won't ever take granted.
Fortunately, there is someone from church who has a backhoe and is willing to lend it to us free of charge. We hope to put all these plumbing issues behind us this week, so that everything returns back to normal, and we can take showers that last more than three minutes, as well as do a load of laundry in our new water efficient LG washing machine.

Can't wait!!!

Chance's Baby Blessing

Greg gave a beautiful blessing for our son on Sunday.
Chance cried throughout the whole thing, but it was beautiful, nonetheless.
Here are some pictures from the blessed day...

Terrible Twos

Caleigh is officially in her "terrible twos." Despite the fact that her temper tantrums, mood changes & whining started long before her second birthday, we don't hold it against her. Hahaha. She is definitely growing into her own person. Here are a few things that she loves:
  • putting on her own shoes (as well as anyone else's shoes that are around)
  • eating at the table with her own fork & spoon (and getting food all over the place)
  • turning up the music on the stereo so she can dance & shake her booty around the house
  • climbing up & down the stairs by herself (including falling from the top of the steps all the way down a day before her birthday, which almost gave me a heart attack - she's fine, by the way...no broken bones or concussions. thank goodness!)
  • putting stickers on her potty chart when she uses the potty
  • speaking her own language (it's mostly gibberish, but she knows exactly what she's saying)
  • watching her favorite shows: Dora, Barney & Caillou
  • brushing her own hair
  • going to nursery at church every Sunday
  • playing with anything & everything (except the hundreds of toys she has)
  • making a mess around the house so Mommy can clean it up
  • talking on the phone (she's practically a teenager)
  • watching herself on video
  • her "nene" (aka her security blanket - she can't sleep without it)
  • talking to Chance & making him smile
  • yelling "DADDY'S TOME" whenever Greg gets home from work
  • taking naps (Mommy loves that one, too!)
  • making a funny "cheesy" smile whenever she's in front of a camera. SEE:

And since she turned two, what better way to celebrate than with two cakes. I made a confetti cake that we had on her actual birthday & then had a Dora cake at her birthday party. Yummy!

We had a small little party for her at home with a few friends from church & our neighbors across the way. It was a success. Caleigh & the girls had fun running around & playing games & visiting. Thanks to Taleah, Aysia, Melia, Kiana, Eme, Meleane, Cassidy & Leah for coming to the party! Caleigh had a blast!!!

Happy 2nd Birthday Caleigh!
We love you!!!
